🔁 One Account Per Customer: Switch Between Customer Accounts on One Phone

October 14, 2026 · 5 min read · By Jonathan Curtis

If you service more than one customer, give each customer their own Teams account, so their buildings, equipment, history, team and invoices stay in one place. With app version 6.38.0, all of those customer accounts live on the same phone, and you switch between them from the top of the screen.

If you service more than one customer, the cleanest way to run Equipment Tracker is one Teams account for each customer. Their buildings, their equipment, their service history, their team and their invoices all live in their own account, and nothing of theirs gets mixed in with the next customer’s. Do that for ten customers and you have ten accounts. Until now, getting from one to the next meant signing out of one and into the other.

Signing out in a mechanical room with one bar of signal is not fun, and it is how a service log ends up under the wrong customer. So the app now keeps all of those customer accounts on the same phone, and you switch between them from the top of the screen, without signing out.

When you can use it

Quick account switching arrives with app version 6.38.0 from the App Store and Google Play. As I write this, that version is waiting for Apple’s and Google’s review. Until your phone has it, the account list does not appear, so if you do not see it yet, check for an update in the store.

Adding the next customer’s account

Go to Settings and find ACCOUNTS ON THIS PHONE. Tap Add an account and sign in to the other customer’s account, with its email and password or with Google (and Apple on an iPhone). The account you were in stays on the phone until you choose.

The app asks whether to keep the first account on the phone so you can switch back without signing in. Tap Keep.

Switching

Once you keep two or more accounts, the account’s name sits at the top of every screen. Tap it, tap the customer you want, and the app says Switching to with the name and opens it.

Switching between accounts already saved on the phone works with no signal. A kept account’s records stay on the phone, so switching back does not download them again. Adding a new account needs a connection, because you sign in to it.

If the screen you are on has changes you have not saved, it asks first: Keep editing, or Discard and switch.

Every customer’s records stay apart

Each account keeps its own records, photos, settings and unsent changes on the phone. One customer’s units never show up in another customer’s list, and nothing you add in one account is sent to another.

That is the point of one account per customer: each customer’s equipment, history and invoices stay in their own account. Free and paid accounts can both be kept on the phone.

Name them so you never pick the wrong one

Until you name it, an account shows its sign-in email, which is not much help when two of them are Gmail addresses. Press and hold an account in the list, or tap its dots, and choose Rename. Call it the customer’s name, or whatever you will recognise at a glance. Names can be up to 40 characters, and only your phone uses them.

Work you have not sent yet is safe

Say you logged a call with no signal and then switched to another customer’s account. If that account is on Pro or Team, those changes stay on the phone with it. The list shows how many are waiting for each account, and Send now, in the same menu as Rename, sends them once you have signal.

You cannot sign out of an account while it still has changes waiting. The app tells you how many there are and to send them first.

Taking an account off the phone

When you stop servicing a customer, Sign Out in the same menu signs that account out and takes it off the list. You can always sign back in. An account that is backed up to the cloud gets its records back from the cloud; a free account, whose records live only on the phone, keeps them there, and they come back if you add it again.

Try it

Set it up once you have 6.38.0

Update the app from the App Store or Google Play when 6.38.0 is out, then add your second account.

1

Add the account

Settings, ACCOUNTS ON THIS PHONE, Add an account, and sign in.

2

Keep the first one

When the app asks whether to keep your first account on the phone, tap Keep.

3

Name them

Tap the account name at the top, press and hold an account, and choose Rename.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need Pro to keep two customer accounts on one phone?

No. Free and paid accounts can both be kept, and switching works the same for both.

Which version do I need?

App version 6.38.0 from the App Store or Google Play. Until your phone has it, the account list does not appear.

Does switching need signal?

No. A kept account’s records stay on the phone, so you can switch with no signal.

Can one customer’s account see another customer’s records?

No. Each account’s records, photos, settings and unsent changes are kept apart on the phone, and each account sends only its own.

What happens to a log I made before switching?

It stays on the phone with that account. The list shows how many changes are waiting, Send now sends them, and you cannot sign out of the account until they have gone up.
