Delete your account and your data
Equipment Tracker Pro is owned and operated by Jonathan M. Curtis. There are two ways to have your account and the data in it deleted: the control inside the mobile app, or an email to us if you no longer have the app installed. Both run the same deletion. This page sets out what that deletion removes and what it leaves behind, so that you know before you start rather than afterwards.
Deleting from inside the app
Open Settings in the Equipment Tracker Pro app, go to the Account section, and find Delete Account. Press and hold it. A short tap only tells you that it needs a long press, which is deliberate, so that the control cannot be hit by accident.
Holding it opens a confirmation box. Type the word DELETE into it and confirm. Nothing is removed until you have typed it, and you can cancel at any point before that.
If the app says a recent login is required, sign out, sign back in, and try again. That check comes from Firebase Authentication rather than from us, and it is there so that somebody holding an unlocked phone cannot delete an account that has been signed in for months.
Requesting deletion by email
If you no longer have the app installed, cannot sign in, or would simply rather we did it, write to us and we will run the same deletion for you.
Email support@equipment-tracker.com from the email address the account was created with, and say that you want the account deleted. Writing from the account’s own address is what lets us match the request to the account. If you cannot, tell us which address the account uses and we will come back to you to confirm that it is yours.
Do not send us your password. We never need it and we will never ask you for it.
What deletion removes
Deleting the account runs one purge on our servers. It removes:
- Your account’s data tree — buildings, units and tenants, equipment, parts, inventory, tools, maintenance and service records, work orders, PM schedules, invoices and the payments recorded against them, and your Archive.
- Every photograph and file held under your own folder in our cloud storage. Photographs uploaded by somebody else — a guest technician, or a resident sending a tenant request — are kept elsewhere and are covered in the next list.
- Data somebody has sent you that is still waiting in your Transfer Inbox to be accepted or discarded.
- Data you have sent somebody else that is still waiting in their Transfer Inbox, and any building transfer code you generated together with the copy of the building held behind it.
- The cached results of your nameplate, condition and invoice scans, held on our servers so that a retry of the same scan does not buy the same answer twice.
- The diagnostic error reports uploaded when part of the app failed, and the record of when your account used the AI features.
- Your team records — any invite codes you generated, and either the workspace itself if you own one or your member record in it if you do not.
- Your sign-in account itself, once all of the above has completed.
It also cancels any active or trialing subscription that was bought on the website through Stripe.
What deletion does not remove
Some records are created outside your account’s data tree, and the purge does not reach them. Written out plainly rather than left for you to discover:
- Public equipment pages you published through a QR or Link Mode code.
- Building check-in configurations, and the notification email addresses and telephone numbers on them.
- Vendor check-in entries.
- Guest technician submissions and their photographs.
- Tenant service requests and their photographs.
- SMS consent records for numbers that were added to a notification list.
- The hashed device record used to enforce the free scan limit.
- Anything you have sent us through the website contact form, together with the screenshots attached to it.
- Your reserved username.
If you want any of these removed as well, say so in the same email and we will remove them. Section 14 of the Privacy Policy carries the same list and the reasons for it.
A subscription bought in an app store has to be cancelled there
Deleting your account cancels a subscription bought on the website through Stripe. It does not cancel one bought through Google Play or the Apple App Store. Those are held by the store rather than by us and we have no way to end them on your behalf, so cancel them in your Google Play or Apple App Store account settings — otherwise the billing carries on after the account is gone.
The copy on your phone stays on your phone
Equipment Tracker Pro keeps its records in a database on the device itself, which is what lets it work with no signal. Deleting your account clears our copy, not that one. To remove the copy on the device, uninstall the app or clear its data in your device settings.
If you are in a team workspace
If you are a member of somebody else’s workspace, deleting your account deletes your account. It does not delete the workspace owner’s data, which is theirs.
If you own a workspace, deleting your account does not erase the copies already downloaded onto your members’ devices. Each of those is erased when that device next runs the app with an internet connection, and anything a member has already exported, printed or sent elsewhere is beyond our reach entirely.
If the deletion does not complete
The purge and the subscription cancellation both run before your sign-in account is removed. If either of them fails, the deletion stops and your sign-in account is deliberately left intact rather than stranded without its data. The app tells you that the deletion failed. Write to us and we will finish it.
