Quick Account Switching Every Customer’s Account, on One Phone

Works with free and paid accounts alike. It arrives with app version 6.38.0 from the App Store and Google Play, which is waiting for Apple’s and Google’s review. Until your phone has that version, the account list does not appear.

If you service more than one customer, give each customer their own Teams account, so that customer’s buildings, equipment, history, team and invoices all live in one place. Quick account switching keeps all of those customer accounts on the same phone, and you move between them from the account name at the top of the screen, without signing out and without typing a password.

Add an account, then switch from the top

In Settings, under ACCOUNTS ON THIS PHONE, tap Add an account and sign in to the other account, with its email and password or with Google (and Apple on an iPhone). The account you were in stays on the phone until you choose.

When you sign in to a second account, the app asks whether to keep the first one on the phone so you can switch back without signing in. Tap Keep.

Once two or more accounts are kept, the account’s name sits at the top of every screen. Tap it, then tap the account you want. The app says Switching to, with the name, and opens that account.

Each account’s records stay apart

Every account keeps its own records, photos, settings and unsent work on the phone, separate from the others. One customer’s equipment never shows up in another customer’s list, and nothing you add in one account is sent to another.

Switching works with no signal. A kept account’s records stay on the phone, so switching back to it does not download them again.

Every kind of login can be kept: your own account, a team owner, manager, tech or viewer login, and a customer login.

Name each account your way

Until you name it, an account shows its sign-in email. Press and hold an account in the list, or tap its dots, and choose Rename to call it whatever you like, such as the customer’s name. Names can be up to 40 characters.

The name is only used on your phone. Nobody else sees it.

When an account belongs to a team, the list also shows Working in, with that team’s workspace name, in small grey text.

Unsent work is protected

If you switch away from an account before its changes have gone up, they stay safe on the phone. The account list shows how many changes are waiting for each account, and the same menu has Send now, which sends them when you have signal.

You cannot sign out of an account while it still has changes waiting. The app tells you how many there are and to tap Send now first.

If the screen you are on has changes you have not saved, switching asks first: Keep editing, or Discard and switch.

Taking an account off the phone

Sign Out, in the same menu, signs that account out and takes it off the quick-switch list. You can sign back in to it any time.

An account that is backed up to the cloud gets its records back from the cloud when you sign in again. A free account, whose records live only on the phone, keeps them on the phone, and they reappear if you add the account again.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Pro to keep two accounts on one phone?

No. Free and paid accounts can both be kept, and switching is the same for both.

When can I use it?

It turns on with app version 6.38.0 from the App Store and Google Play, which is waiting for Apple’s and Google’s review. Until your phone has that version, the account list does not appear.

Does switching work with no signal?

Yes. A kept account’s records stay on the phone, so you can switch to it in a basement or on a roof with no bars.

Can one customer’s account see another customer’s records?

No. Each account’s records, photos, settings and unsent work are kept apart on the phone, and each account only sends its own.

What happens to changes I made before switching?

They stay on the phone with that account. The account list shows how many are waiting, Send now sends them, and you cannot sign out of an account until they have gone up.

Can I name the accounts?

Yes. Rename any account in the list, up to 40 characters. Until you do, it shows the sign-in email. The name is only on your phone.
