Found a code on an equipment label?

What an Equipment Tracker Pro code looks like
There are exactly two, and both are printed with their prefix showing. A maintenance request tag begins with tu_ followed by twelve lowercase letters and digits — tu_ab12cd34ef56 — and it is the code on a card fixed inside an apartment or a suite, with a separate four-character verify code printed beside it so a resident can check that the card and the page that opens agree. A vendor check-in code begins with ci_ and is the one on a sign at a plant room door or a loading bay.
A code in either shape opens without an account, without an app and without a password. Nothing else on a label is a code you can enter here: a serial number, a model number and a part number are all printed on equipment and none of them is a link to anything.
If the tag is not one of ours
Plenty of asset labels look like this one and belong to a different system — stickers reading equip-track-pro, equipmenttrackqr.com or something similar are another company’s tags, and we cannot open their records. If the label names a website, that website is where the code resolves.
What is on the machine itself is more durable than any sticker. The manufacturer, model number and serial number stamped on the nameplate identify the unit to a parts counter, a warranty portal and a manufacturer lookup, and they will still be there after the label has peeled.
A part number is not a tracking code
People arrive here having typed something like "part no: 553441593-00, equip/tag model no: rd160" into a search box. That is a manufacturer’s part and model reference, not a tracking code, and no lookup service on any site will turn it into a service history. It is the right string to give a supplier when ordering the replacement.
It is also the right string to keep on the equipment record, which is the point of writing it down somewhere other than a ticket in a van.
Putting your own codes on your own equipment
The tags this site issues are printed by the people who own the equipment. A QR tag on a unit opens a read-only page showing the specifications, the location, the installed parts with their filter and belt sizes, and the service log — with costs, labour hours and labour rates never published. A tenant request tag on a door lets a resident report a fault against the exact unit, with safety triage before the form.
Core equipment tracking is free and works with no signal. Printing a Text or JSON tag is free as well, because those carry their data on the sticker itself; the hosted Link tag and the tenant request tag are Pro, because the page they point at has to be published and kept current.
