No two spreadsheets use the same column headers. One sheet might label a column as *Brand*, while another uses *Manufacturer* or *Make*. Our CSV importer scans your file's headers and automatically maps them to the correct fields in the app (labeled as *✨ Auto-Matched*).

If the automatic match needs adjustment, our clean left-to-right mapping UI lets you choose custom columns from a dropdown menu. Target fields are marked as *Required* or *Optional* with clear badges. Any unmapped columns (like purchase cost, dimensions, or custom notes) are automatically appended to each unit's **Equipment Notes** so you never lose a single byte of data.

Inline Back Buttons and Validation Previews

Before writing any records to the SQLite database on your device, the app loads a complete **Validation Preview** displaying the first ten mapped items. If the preview flags duplicate warnings (like an existing serial or asset tag match in your active portfolio), you'll see a yellow status badge.

If you notice a mapping error in the preview, you don't have to start over. We added prominent **Back buttons** at the bottom of the column mapping and preview screens so you can step backward, adjust your dropdown mappings, and verify again before committing the import.
