📸 Why We Upgraded Free AI Scans from 3 to 10 — Experience the Real Power of Gemini

The free AI scan limit increased from 3 to 10 — here is why we changed the number and what ten scans actually lets you do in the field.

Starting with this update, every free account gets ten AI scans instead of three. That covers the Nameplate Scanner, Condition Assessment, and Invoice Scanner — shared across all three tools. No credit card, no catch.

Here is why we changed the number and what ten scans actually lets you do.

Why Three Scans Was Not Enough

We set the original 3-scan limit to manage early server costs and give users a quick taste of the AI tools. It turned out to be too quick.

Equipment Tracker Pro has three distinct AI scanners: the Nameplate Scanner (extracts 40+ spec fields from a photo), the Condition Assessment (inspects physical wear, corrosion, and leak signs), and the Invoice Scanner (parses work orders and parts logs). With only three scans, a user who tried one of each ran out immediately. They never got a chance to run the same tool twice, test it in different lighting, or see how it handled different brands and label formats. The feedback we got was consistent: three scans was not enough to actually evaluate anything.

Ten gives you room to actually try things.

Building a Real Database

The other problem with three scans is that commercial buildings do not have three pieces of equipment. A typical rooftop has five to ten active units. Under the old limit, you could document part of one building before hitting the wall — which meant you never got to see how the dashboard looks with a full site loaded, how search handles twenty units, or how the branded PDF export looks on a complete building audit.

Ten scans gets you through a medium-sized facility. You can walk a mechanical room, scan the units, and see what a fully populated database looks like on your actual job site. That is a meaningful evaluation.

Scan Countdown Alerts

As your scan count drops, the app shows a countdown alert with the remaining number. Each one is written to be direct without being annoying — a reminder of how many you have left and a one-tap option to go Pro if you want unlimited from that point forward.

The scan counter resets when you go Pro. If you later cancel, any scans used before remain used.
